As an avid reader of James Patterson books, I was very disappointed with this book。 I found the book to be rather boring and too woke/PC for me。 I avoid books with political agendas。

Great bookI didn't know about competitive horse showing。 I feel like I could have a intelligent conversation about it now。 A very enjoyable read。 Thank you, James Patterson and Mike Lupica。 Great bookI didn't know about competitive horse showing。 I feel like I could have a intelligent conversation about it now。 A very enjoyable read。 Thank you, James Patterson and Mike Lupica。 。。。more

for the fun of horsesI liked this book a lot, I grew up horse crazy, then my daughter rode all her life, it brings great memories!

insipidproblems resolved waaaaay too easily and unrealistically。 cover art does not show either horse or rider at their best, or even close, though the background is nice

Not quite believable。The story was ok, but I don’t feel like the characters were flesh and bones。 I ride horses and yes, they used some equine language but it just didn’t feel real。

Completely predictable and completely enjoyable。 Recommended for all horse people, whether rider or spectator, you'll be swept along into this elegant world and taken on an incredible journey。 Completely predictable and completely enjoyable。 Recommended for all horse people, whether rider or spectator, you'll be swept along into this elegant world and taken on an incredible journey。 。。。more

I really enjoyed this book!I liked the dynamics between the three women! I like how Steve Gorton got put in his place finally! I liked the horse trainers, Daniel and Gus! I liked how Gus’ disability didn’t phase him! I liked the Olympics as being the ultimate goal!

Good horse books for adults are few and far between so I am over the moon that Patterson and Lupica wrote this book。 Very much enjoyed it。

I usually LOVE all James Patterson's books, but this one was the worst for me。 The story was ok, it was the writing。 I don't remember any of JP's books saying "he said, she said" after EVERY sentence。 "Here's your coffee, HE SAID, thank you, SHE SAID, no problem, HE SAID, you're so kind, SHE SAID。 Maybe because I was listening to this book on audio and not reading it, it was so much more obvious but it was extremely annoying。 I've stopped reading books in the past by authors who write like this, I usually LOVE all James Patterson's books, but this one was the worst for me。 The story was ok, it was the writing。 I don't remember any of JP's books saying "he said, she said" after EVERY sentence。 "Here's your coffee, HE SAID, thank you, SHE SAID, no problem, HE SAID, you're so kind, SHE SAID。 Maybe because I was listening to this book on audio and not reading it, it was so much more obvious but it was extremely annoying。 I've stopped reading books in the past by authors who write like this, but kept hoping that it would get better。 It never did。 I did finish it though but it was very painful。 Not a fan at all。 From now on I'll just stick to James Patterson's older books where he doesn't do that。 。。。more

3 generations of women running a struggling horse ranch。 The Grandmother is the tough matriarch; the Mom is the steady, methodical one; and the daughter living in her Mother’s shadow with a little chip on her shoulder。 Their shared dream is for the Mother to qualify for the Olympics。 Premise sounded interesting as I love a good horse story, but it ended up just being so-so。 Seemed to have a repetitive cycle: horse show description, bad guy makes threats, trainer has DACA problems, then back to a 3 generations of women running a struggling horse ranch。 The Grandmother is the tough matriarch; the Mom is the steady, methodical one; and the daughter living in her Mother’s shadow with a little chip on her shoulder。 Their shared dream is for the Mother to qualify for the Olympics。 Premise sounded interesting as I love a good horse story, but it ended up just being so-so。 Seemed to have a repetitive cycle: horse show description, bad guy makes threats, trainer has DACA problems, then back to another horse show - rinse and repeat。 Written in a reader friendly way as is typical with Patterson books, just not quite as good as I was hoping for。 。。。more

Not a fan。 I struggled to the end。 How many times can you explain the course and rides! Just not up to my expectations of a Patterson book。

Very disappointing。 I knew it was iffy when a filly was identified as a colt early in the novel。 It felt to me like this novel was constructed from note cards。 Card 1, card 2, card 3 with not much in between, very mechanical。 The author does incorporate some big show jumping names。 Some of the names have been slightly changed--Bitsy Macauley for Beezie Madden, Tess something for Jessica Springsteen。 Too many of the jumping efforts are described in the same way which becomes tedious instead of ex Very disappointing。 I knew it was iffy when a filly was identified as a colt early in the novel。 It felt to me like this novel was constructed from note cards。 Card 1, card 2, card 3 with not much in between, very mechanical。 The author does incorporate some big show jumping names。 Some of the names have been slightly changed--Bitsy Macauley for Beezie Madden, Tess something for Jessica Springsteen。 Too many of the jumping efforts are described in the same way which becomes tedious instead of exciting。 The villain is horrible and a caricature。 Relationships are not believable。 If you are a horse person, this is a bad horse book。 。。。more

A Gold MedalI was hesitant to read this book because I love thrillers and this was a book about horse racing。 But it was just so much more than that。 It was a book about people and a book about loving and a book about winning!

James Patterson is one of my favorites and this story did not disappoint。 The beginning immediately grabbed my attention and kept it until about page 300 or so。 The ending seemed to drag out。 Still a wonderful feel good story。

A really nice read, truly enjoyed this story!

When you put two famous authors together to write a book, you know it's going to be a success。 I'm a huge fan of James Patterson, and I have always shared Mike Lupica books with my student athletes。 I definitely recommend this book for people who love horses。 My nieces jump their horses, and I pictured them throughout the book the whole time。 In this book, a mother and daughter compete for the right to be in the horse jumping competition at the Olympics。 The characters were interesting。 It was f When you put two famous authors together to write a book, you know it's going to be a success。 I'm a huge fan of James Patterson, and I have always shared Mike Lupica books with my student athletes。 I definitely recommend this book for people who love horses。 My nieces jump their horses, and I pictured them throughout the book the whole time。 In this book, a mother and daughter compete for the right to be in the horse jumping competition at the Olympics。 The characters were interesting。 It was fun to read about a sport in which I know nothing。 It was not only about competing, but family and love relationships。I gave this book 4 stars。 I appreciate the publishing company of Little, Brown and Company for sharing this book with me for my honest review。 。。。more

The Horsewoman tells the story of 3 generations of horsewomen。 The grandmother has purchased a horse with a partner for her daughter whose goal is to win gold in the Olympics。 Her granddaughter is a college student who enjoys riding but not the competitor that her mother is。 A freak accident pushes the granddaughter into her mother’s world of series competitive riding with a horse owner who knows nothing of the sport except that he expects to win。 The main characters are easy to relate to and th The Horsewoman tells the story of 3 generations of horsewomen。 The grandmother has purchased a horse with a partner for her daughter whose goal is to win gold in the Olympics。 Her granddaughter is a college student who enjoys riding but not the competitor that her mother is。 A freak accident pushes the granddaughter into her mother’s world of series competitive riding with a horse owner who knows nothing of the sport except that he expects to win。 The main characters are easy to relate to and the villain is easy to dislike。 It is completely different from most James Patterson。 It was obvious from the beginning that INS would play a major role in the plot。 Each competition had a level of intensity and vivid descriptions of the competitions made it easy to picture the scene but the rest of the book was missing Patterson’s twist and turns。 Even though it was easy to dislike the part owner or Coronado and the other jockey, I kept waiting for them to do something more intense。 Overall it is an enjoyable and easy read I just missed the unexpected that normally occurs in a James Patterson novel。 Thank you NetGalley, Little, Brown and Company, James Patterson and Mike Lupica for the ARC in return for an honest review。 。。。more

Could have been betterOK is best I can come up with。 Very predictable out come and some far fetched probabilities。 No real depth of the actual cost of competing at this level either。 As to the immigration issue pure Cinderella。。

This book was so good I finished it in 1 day! I loved the combination of horses, strong women, and a drive to go after their dreams。 Bonus they are mother and daughter! I loved all the twists and turns this book had。 Highly recommend reading!

Jennifer Lanteigne

Didn’t really enjoy this。 Felt more like a Danielle steel novel。 Very predicable and I really disliked the main characters。

Margaret Hejmanowski

Kind of a slow start, it picked up and was a great read

Literally as bad as I thought it might be (because James Patterson is a horrible writer, )but I thought maybe mike lupica would help。 I thought it could be an interesting look at the horseshow life in Wellington Florida that Anna was part of at one point。 I finished it because every chapter is a page long and the whole book took minimal effort!

Linda

I didn’t like the competitive nature or nastiness of all the relationships in this book。

I’M TIREDThis may be the best book James Patterson has written。 No violence other than words and one fist to the nose (deserved, I might add)。 Just like others, he had me at the get go and the momentum just kept mounting。 I felt like I was walking right beside the characters and what a ride! This is definitely going to be one of the best books of 2022。
